There's so much I want to say, but one thing I will say is this - Professor Owen Arthur was such a great person who added much value to every life he touched. I am very humbled to have had an opportunity to have chatted with him over the years. I am grateful our paths have crossed during what seems to be his short time on this earth but in any event, I give thanks to the Almighty for the 70 short years he has loaned this great man to the world!
Professor Owen, like so many others, I will always have fond memories of our chats to make me smile. May you rest in eternal peace.

My condolences to the family and people Barbados on the passing of the right Honourable Owen Seymour Arthur. He was my junior at Coleridge & Parry school where I found him to be a
very humble person . When I met him in Canada as Prime Minister of Barbados, he was still humble. He is an excellent example of the power of education. He used his economic strategies and expertise to provide strong leadership to Barbados when it was needed. May God send other leaders like him to match the needs of the people of Barbados. May he rest in peace and Rise in Glory.

As I sat to write this brief tribute what has felt surreal became acutely real.

Prof. Arthur was a politician extraordinaire, a colossus on the national & regional stage, a man of incredible intellect, a fierce proponent of the rights of Small Island Developing States and at his core, a quintessential Caribbean man.

Under his leadership, I and others of the millennial generation grew up in a Barbados that was able to pull itself up from the disastrous early 1990s, marked by record levels of unemployment and economic ruin, to a nation "punching above its weight" where we were encouraged to "go for the gold".

Prof. Arthur was one of the fiercest proponents of regional integration and the Caribbean civilization. One of his lasting achievements was undoubtedly the establishment of the CARICOM Single Market. Hopefully, one day, his dream of the Single Economy will also be realised. Our country and the region are immensely indebted to him for his stellar contribution and we are all poorer for his loss.

On a personal level, I was fortunate to have benefitted from his caring and kind spirit, as well as his wise counsel as a young person interested in politics.

Sincere condolences to his family and thank you for sharing him with us all.

May he rest in eternal peace and rise in glory.

Professor The Rt Hon. Owen Arthur was always polite and gracious to me , but was mischievous and I like that about him. His smile said it all , he once said to me when I was around he knew because that group was always misbehaving.I loved to hear him debate. He will truly be missed,my deepest sympathy to his wife Julie, his daughters Leah and Sabrina and granddaughter Isabella.May he Rest In Peace .

True son of the soil. He pushed Barbados and Barbadians to achieve and for personal achievement. Barbados, small in stature but well respected, similar to the man Owen. A Barbadian, a Caribbean man, deeply respected and appreciated. RIP RIP

You never failed to share your wisdom and knowledge with anyone, and for that we're all grateful — I am!

I will never forget our interaction, during the BLP's electioneering process under your leadership, and how you outlined strategies to your running mates, and by extension to those of us who had signed on to ensure that the many objectives were met and this nation, you loved, was transformed.

You were indeed "The Grassroots PM" of my time - no us and them, it was about "all ah we"😊

"We going wid Owen" and we went indeed, and you delivered, for 14 years.

You will be missed, Sir Owen🥺

RIP, Indeed!

A brilliant down to earth man. The right honorable Owen Arthur will always be remembered for his generosity, willingness to help the average person. I remember requesting a meeting with him about some land conflict in Benn Hill St. Peter and because of him he invited my friend and I to government house with other minister to discuss the problem. May he Rest In Peace and hope his family is comforted in this time of sorrow
